The new image on this page is, on the first place, a tribute to the innocent beauty of mountains. Wise teachers, givers and takers of life, they shake me to the limits of my awe and guide me through the path of freedom.
The mountain in the photograph is actually the most beautiful mountain I've ever seen. The Palcaraju, which rises almost 6200 meters above sea level, extends its virgin white ice like a bird extends its wings. Its glacier trembles with constant avalanches in the early morning, and when moonlight shines on its diamond summit, the Earth and the Sky meet in a perfect lovemaking. I believe that no words can replace the sight of this mountain.
The photograph was taken in July 2003, while I was on a Wilderness Leadership Course at the Cordillera Blanca in Peru.
