coming through in words

I am bewildered by the power spoken words have over emotions.
[And this is not to say that this power is strong, but rather that it has a a character that written words cannot capture (although perhaps images can).]
I am not sure if there can be such thing as a measure imposed on the effect of spoken words (can I be quantified?).
Nonetheless, this is one thing I know will always cherish about the fact of being with someone.
